Complex lifting projects require more than lifting capacity. They require the right equipment, careful planning, and a team that knows how to work through access limitations, confined spaces, and challenging job-site conditions.
IPW Specialty Lifting provides specialty lifting and precision lifting services across Western Canada, helping industrial, oil and gas, construction, and maintenance teams complete difficult-access lifts safely and efficiently.
When the job calls for practical problem solving instead of a one-size-fits-all approach, we're the team that's built for it.
About Us
Not every lifting project is straightforward.
Some jobs involve tight access, active facilities, overhead obstructions, sensitive equipment, or spaces where conventional lifting methods simply aren't practical. Those are the situations IPW Specialty Lifting is built to support.
We provide specialty lifting and material handling services that help industrial operations keep projects moving when access, maneuverability, and precision matter just as much as lifting capacity. Our work supports equipment installations, removals, maintenance shutdowns, construction projects, and material handling throughout Alberta, British Columbia, and Saskatchewan.
Rather than approaching every project the same way, we assess the conditions, the equipment, and the end goal before recommending the right lifting solution. That practical approach allows us to tackle lifting challenges that often require more than simply bringing larger equipment to the job site.
Every project starts with the same objective: find the safest and most practical way to complete the lift while keeping the work moving efficiently.
Our History
IPW Specialty Lifting represents years of operational experience brought into a brand that clearly reflects the work the company performs today.
The legal business has been operating since 1996, originally under Interprovincial Welding and Manufacturing 1996 LTD. As the business evolved, lifting services became an increasingly important part of day-to-day operations, supporting industrial facilities, oil and gas sites, construction projects, and equipment installations across Western Canada.
Following the ownership transition in May 2025, the opportunity wasn't to reinvent the business. It was to better represent it.
The IPW Specialty Lifting brand was created to reflect what clients already relied on the company for: solving difficult lifting challenges with specialized equipment, practical field knowledge, and controlled execution.
We specialize in lifting work where planning, precision, and problem solving make the difference. By narrowing our focus, we've strengthened our ability to support the types of projects where conventional lifting methods may not provide the most practical solution.
That clarity allows clients to know exactly who they're calling and exactly what we do best.
Our Values
The equipment matters, but it's how that equipment is used that determines the outcome.
Everything we do is guided by a set of principles that help us deliver consistent, practical lifting solutions in demanding industrial environments.
Every project begins with careful planning, site awareness, and selecting an approach that matches the conditions. Safe work isn't a separate process. It's built into every stage of the job.
When projects involve multiple contractors, production schedules, or facility shutdowns, dependable execution matters. We focus on following through with clear communication and dependable support from start to finish.
Every job site presents different challenges. Tight access, structural obstacles, confined work areas, and sensitive equipment all require thoughtful planning. We approach each project with practical solutions rather than assumptions.
The right lifting approach can reduce unnecessary complexity while helping projects stay on schedule. Efficiency comes from planning properly, selecting the right equipment, and executing with control.
Our equipment plays a critical role in the work we perform. Maintaining it properly and matching it to the right application allows us to complete lifts with confidence and precision.
You'll always know where things stand. We believe clear communication, honest recommendations, and practical advice lead to better projects and stronger working relationships.
Why IPW
When projects involve restricted access, confined spaces, sensitive equipment, or environments where larger lifting equipment isn't practical, the solution often comes down to planning, maneuverability, and experience, not simply using a bigger machine.
That's where IPW Specialty Lifting stands apart.
Industries
IPW Specialty Lifting works alongside companies operating in environments where safety, coordination, and practical problem solving are part of every project. We understand that lifting work often needs to fit within active operations, tight schedules, and demanding site conditions, not the other way around.
Oil and gas projects often involve active facilities, strict safety expectations, and equipment located in areas with limited access. We provide specialty lifting support that helps crews complete installations, maintenance work, and equipment moves while working within the realities of complex industrial sites.
Plants and industrial facilities rarely stop operating just because equipment needs to be moved. Our lifting solutions support equipment upgrades, machinery relocations, maintenance work, and facility improvements where access is limited and precision is essential.
Construction projects move quickly, and lifting work often needs to adapt to changing site conditions. From structural material placement to equipment handling, we help contractors complete lifts safely while working around site access, surrounding trades, and evolving project requirements.
Installing or removing industrial equipment often requires lifting support in confined spaces where precision matters just as much as lifting capability. We work alongside mechanical contractors and millwright teams to help position equipment accurately while minimizing unnecessary disruption.
Heavy components don't always arrive exactly where they need to end up. We support fabrication companies and equipment installers by helping move, position, and place machinery where restricted access or existing structures create additional challenges.
Shutdowns and maintenance projects leave little room for delays. Our lifting services help maintenance teams move equipment efficiently while supporting planned upgrades, repairs, replacements, and ongoing facility improvements.
Safety
Planning a lift starts long before equipment arrives on site.
Every project brings different site conditions, access limitations, and operational requirements. Taking the time to assess those variables helps create a lifting approach that's practical, controlled, and aligned with the work being performed.
We also use tools such as Site Docs to support digital lift planning and hazard assessments while working within client safety requirements. Our operations also align with platforms such as ISNetworld and Comply Works, helping support professional project coordination and industry compliance expectations where required.
Our goal isn't simply to complete the lift. It's to complete it with the planning, preparation, and attention to detail that complex industrial projects demand.
Based in Edson, Alberta, IPW Specialty Lifting provides specialty lifting services throughout Alberta, British Columbia, and Saskatchewan, supporting industrial, construction, and resource-sector projects across Western Canada.
Because many of the projects we support are planned around shutdowns, installations, maintenance work, or changing site conditions, our field operations remain flexible to meet project requirements.

Get Started
Every project comes with its own challenges.
Sometimes it's limited access. Sometimes it's precision placement. Sometimes it'sfinding a safer and more practical way to complete the work without bringing inlarger equipment than the job requires. Whatever you're working on, we'd be happy to talk through the project, review the site conditions, and help determine the right lifting approach.
A conversation early in the planning process can often help identify practical solutions before work begins.
