Equipment Built for Complex Lifting Challenges

At IPW Specialty Lifting, every piece of equipment is chosen for a reason. From confined industrial facilities to difficult-access projects, our equipment allows us to complete lifts safely, efficiently, and with minimal disruption. It's not about having the biggest fleet. It's about having the right equipment, the right configuration, and the experience to apply it where it matters most.

Serving Alberta, British Columbia, and Saskatchewan from our operational base in Edson, AB.

OUR EQUIPMENT

Specialized Equipment for Complex Lifting Environments

Every project presents different challenges. Some require greater reach. Others demand tighter control, specialized attachments, or the ability to work inside active facilities without major disruption. Our equipment is selected to give us more options when standard lifting methods fall short.

80-Ton Knuckle Boom Truck

When projects require serious lifting capacity combined with flexibility, our 80-ton knuckle boom truck provides the strength needed while remaining adaptable for complex industrial work.

Common Applications

What It Helps Solve

Knuckle Boom Cranes

Knuckle boom cranes give us the maneuverability needed to work around structures, inside facilities, and through restricted access points where straight-boom equipment often struggles. Their articulated design allows for controlled movement in environments where precision matters just as much as lifting capacity.

Reverse Knuckle Jib & Lifting Beam Configurations

Some projects aren't difficult because of the weight. They're difficult because of the environment. Our reverse jib configurations and lifting beams allow us to approach lifts from angles that conventional equipment can't, making it possible to remove or install equipment through existing openings while maintaining control throughout the lift.

HOW WE APPROACH IT

Built Around the Challenges That Matter Most

Many lifting projects become complicated long before the equipment ever leaves the ground. It's common to encounter low overhead clearance, narrow access points, existing piping, electrical infrastructure, or machinery that simply wasn't designed to be removed easily. That's where specialized equipment configurations make the difference.

Challenge: Limited Access

Some facilities leave very little room to position equipment.

Our Approach

We use articulated knuckle booms, reverse jib configurations, and carefully planned equipment positioning to reach locations that conventional lifting methods struggle to access.

The Result

Large equipment can often be removed or installed without major building modifications or unnecessary downtime.

Challenge: Uneven or Awkward Loads

Weight isn't always the biggest challenge. Equipment with an uneven center of gravity can become far more difficult to control during lifting.

Our Approach

Our lifting beams feature multiple lifting points that allow us to balance irregular loads and maintain greater control throughout the lift.

The Result

Safer, more controlled lifts that help reduce unnecessary complications during removal and installation.

Challenge: Limited Access

Industrial facilities rarely provide generous working space. Pipe racks, cable trays, machinery, and structural steel often leave only inches of clearance.

Our Approach

Our cranes use wireless controls, allowing the operator to maintain clear sight of the load. Before each project, we carefully position equipment and perform test runs to confirm the lifting path.

The Result

Greater accuracy, fewer surprises, and safer execution in tight environments.

PROJECT PROOF

Real Projects. Real Results.

The best proof isn't a specification sheet. It's seeing what specialized equipment makes possible.

Project

Removing Two 18,000 lb Generators in a Single Day

A customer needed two 18,000-pound generators removed from a confined industrial space during a facility shutdown. Using our 80-ton knuckle boom, reverse jib, and lifting beam, both generators were removed in a single day. Previously, the customer relied on a jack-and-roll method that required a minimum of three days per generator. By completing both removals in one day, the facility returned to operation significantly faster while reducing downtime and disruption.

Project

Removing a 16,000 lb Electric Motor Without Removing the Roof

A customer needed a 16,000-pound electric motor removed from the center of their building. The previous approach required bringing in a traditional crane, removing sections of the roof, and erecting scaffolding before work could even begin. Using our 80-ton knuckle boom, lifting beam, and reverse knuckle jib, we removed the motor through an existing overhead door in a single day. The project avoided unnecessary building modifications while dramatically reducing downtime and associated costs.

When the Lift Is Complex, Start With the Right Equipment

The success of a lifting project isn't determined by the size of the equipment. It's determined by using the right equipment, the right configuration, and the right approach for the conditions on site. If your project involves restricted access, confined spaces, precision placement, or equipment that conventional lifting methods struggle to reach, we'd be happy to review the job and recommend the most practical solution.
